Signing in and out/Attendance Records Policy

On arrival, please sign your child in and before departure, please sign your child out. If someone else will be picking up or dropping off your child, please let staff know in advance. Please inform the individuals you have selected to pick up the child that proof of their identification will be requested to ensure the safety of all children.

Our policy is that your child will not be released to unauthorized individuals.

Important: After 4pm, children remaining on the premises will automatically be placed in Aftercare at an hourly charge. Aftercare service may be withdrawn for non-compliance with the policy.

Sickness Absences/Exclusion

If your child is too sick to attend school, please keep him/her at home. We expect a telephone or email at the start of the day with information about your child’s illness and when he/she is expected to return.

Example of symptoms for exclusion may include:

  • Severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea.
  • Difficulty breathing or untreated wheezing
  • Yellow discharge from the eyes
  • Cuts or openings on the skin that are pus-filled or oozing
  • Lice or Nits
  • Excessive high temperature
  • Contagious diseases (i.e. Chicken Pox, Measles, Conjunctivitis, Ringworm)

It is important for parents to identify backup care in the event of your child becoming sick in school. Please provide an emergency number so contact can be made in the event of any emergency.

Note: Unfortunately, there are no refunds or discounts for days that your child does not attend as there are still daily child care costs associated with the running of the Academy.

Health and Safety Policy

The Beavers Academy is committed to promoting a culture of safety for both children and adults. We ensure the necessary health and safety resources are in place and continually monitor and evaluate health and safety to improve standards and meet current legislation.

Who is Responsible?

It is the responsibility of all members of staff to ensure that health and safety requirements at The Beavers Academy are always adhered to, ensuring that the welfare of children and staff members is not compromised.

Supervision Requirements

Children will always be supervised whilst in our care. We will use three levels of supervision depending on the activities taking place:

  • Constant Supervision: Actively supporting children at all times during high-risk activities.
  • General Supervision: Being near children but not directly involved in their play.
  • Low Supervision: Keeping an overview of what children are doing from a distance, used for low-risk activities.
